Why Japanese?

In my younger years, and through my high school career, I read a lot of manga and watched a lot of anime. As I spent more and more type delving through the interesting culture, I found myself falling in love not only with Japanese artwork, but also with the culture itself. But I never had a chance to take Japanese. Once I got into Princeton, I was presented with the first opportunity that I had to do a language that I loved. Luckily, I took the chance, and I have been happy with my choice.

We have just started, so I am still able to keep up with everything if I review it. But I am somewhat intimidated with not only by the upperclassmen and graduate students, but also by the amount of people who seem to have taken a foreign language before. In addition, I am confused why Japanese has three different alphabets. And the change from a Western language to an Eastern language is hard in the pronunciation aspect. However, as soon as I felt disappointed, my professor happened to show a manga on the screen, and I was reminded on why I fell in love with Japan. Besides, the culture and language of Japan is too cool not to be excited about it!

So, I will continue to try my best, 少しずつ.
